ONR Young Investigator Award
Dr. Wencheng Jin received a prestigious Young Investigator Program (YIP) award from the Office of Naval Research. The Texas A&M College of Engineering also featured the project in “New model seeks to predict coastal changes in real time.”
In this project, Dr. Jin and his team will explore GPU acceleration, learned correction and interpolation, and emulators to accelerate XBeach for real-time forecasting of coastal hydromorphodynamics during extreme events.

My research interests include novel rock breakage and fracture for subsurface resource recovery, data-driven and physics-based multiphysics modeling in porous and fractured media, and granular material flow characterization and modeling. My research supports energy and mineral recovery and storage, material handling, and geohazard prediction.
